America Recycles Day is celebrated annually across the country to recognize the importance of recycling in our environment, our communities and our economy. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate by hosting workshops, conducting litter clean up events, donate used clothing to local charities, start compost at home or review RecycleCT’s What’s IN, What’s OUT list for Connecticut’s mixed recycling (single stream program).
“We’re thrilled to welcome these talented professionals to the RecycleCT board,” said Jennifer Heaton-Jones, Board Vice Chair and Executive Director of the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority. “Their expertise will help us expand our focus beyond recycling to include zero waste, reuse, and composting. Together, we’re building a more sustainable future for Connecticut through education and action.”
On December 2, 2025, RecycleCT also will be participating in GivingTuesday for the first time. GivingTuesday is held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to help organizations make a difference and further their cause.
RecycleCT is working to increase its statewide education and outreach, provide more resources to residents, municipalities, haulers and recycling facilities to improve the What’s IN, What’s OUT recycling program and offer more grants to expand recycling opportunities. Since its beginnings, RecycleCT has provided over $380,000 in grant dollars to schools, municipalities and nonprofit organizations to increase recycling and waste reduction programs throughout the state.
Contributions will go towards statewide marketing and grant programs. Donations can be made through from RecycleCT’s webpage here.
The RecycleCT Foundation’s mission is to promote the importance of managing materials more sustainably through waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting. More information can be found at www.RecycleCT.com.
