One of the Most Advanced in North America
The All American Material Recovery Facility (MRF), operated by Murphy Road Recycling in Berlin, Connecticut, is recognized as one of the most advanced single-stream recycling centers in North America. Announced in March 2021, the facility was developed in collaboration with Van Dyk Recycling Solutions to improve the quality, quantity, and purity of recovered materials, while maintaining a safe and adaptable processing environment.
The facility began operations in early 2022 and is equipped to process more than 60tons of material per hour, with an annual capacity exceeding 200,000 tons. It has earned Gold-Level certification from the Glass Recycling Coalition (GRC), a distinction made possible by its state-of-the-art systems, including optical sorters, robotics, artificial intelligence, and specialized glass processing equipment such as breakers, secondary fines screens, and magnets. These systems produce clean glass cullet, which manufacturers repurpose into new glass containers, sandblasting medium, and concrete additive.
A defining feature of the All American MRF is its modular, forward-looking design. This allows for the seamless integration of new technologies as recycling streams and market demands evolve. The facility has already taken advantage of this flexibility by adding AI-based Grey Parrot Analyzers and additional optical sorters, which provide real-time sorting oversight and enable proactive operational adjustments.
